MyPostcard was approached to support the campaign “Blogger für Flüchtlinge” (Bloggers for refugees). The campaign calls for bloggers and influencers to spread the word about helping and donating for refugees arriving in Germany and living in precarious conditions. They need our support which is why MyPostcard has joined in the project with a category devoted to “Welcome Postcards” in our design shop. These postcards are free to send from anyone wanting to join in and send a warm welcome to the refugees arriving in Heidenau, Germany.

Why Heidenau?

In Heidenau extreme right-wing demonstrations have been on the rise in the past few weeks. The right wing NPD party have called out for protests which ended in riots. We from MyPostcard are against how these small groups of our society have manifested themselves and consider it unacceptable. Through this campaign we want to show that this is not how the majority of our society feels. We believe the majority shares in refugees’ fates and is welcoming them the way they deserve it – with respect and openness. With this postcard campaign we are taking a stand against racism, xenophobia and blind hate speech.

This week we sent over 1000 postcards to Heidenau. The regional red cross posted this picture on Facebook showing the first few hundreds postcards that arrived.

More than 1000 welcome postcards for refugees

As this campaign was a huge success, we want to set up a similar campaign for Hamburg. Here there are over 90 refugee homes and even the big exhibition hall has been repurposed into a wardrobe, so that refugees can receive donated clothes and other donations in kind.

How it works

  1. Download the free MyPostcard App
  2. Design your postcard by adding your own pictures or choose a design from the category “Blogger für Fluchtlinge”
  3. Personalize the postcard with your own words (in English)
  4. Add the recipient’s address

refugees welcome Hamburg
c/o Baschu e.V.
Im Hegen 14a
22113 Oststeinbek

  1. Click “Send and Pay” and pay your greeting card or postcard using the free code “hamburg”. We will then print and send your card for free!
  2. Share on Facebook or Twitter and spread the word by using the following hashtags #postcardstohamburg #refugeeswelcome #bloggerfuerfluechtlinge

MyPostcard Postcards for Refugees

Thanks for your support!

We hope, that we can send at least as many postcards to Hamburg as we did to Heidenau. All the postcards will be collected in Oststeinbek before being handed over to the Hamburg Kleiderkammer, where refugees can pick up free clothes and sanitary products. There the postcards will be hung up for everyone to see and read! Let’s spread some good vibes.

If you have an idea for where we could send even more welcome cards, write to us at social@mypostcard.com!
