• On International Women’s Day, MyPostcard launches a postcard campaign
  • MyPostcard will donate the proceeds of postcards sent to HÁWAR.help
  • The postcard designs, created in cooperation with Iranian artists, will be available in the MyPostcard app for one month starting March 8

Berlin, 08.03.2023 — Women are both the catalyst and the driving force behind the wave of protests in Iran that has swept the country since the violent death of 22-year-old Jina Mahsa Amini, and led to massive human rights abuses by state forces. With the slogan “Keep Speaking”, MyPostcard, Germany’s most successful postcard app is using this year’s International Women’s Day as an opportunity to launch a postcard campaign in support of the freedom movement in Iran. The goal: to set a visible example of solidarity with the women in Iran and thus for gender equality.

Starting on March 8, 2023, postcards from a specially created  campaign category can be sent via MyPostcard for one month to show solidarity with women and girls as well as peace and human rights activists in Iran and worldwide.  The postcards, designed in cooperation with Iranian artists, can be found in the “Keep Speaking” category. MyPostcard will donate the proceeds of the cards sent during the one-month campaign period to HÁWAR.help and thus support the work and projects of the organization. In MyPostcard’s accompanying campaign video, a child shares her dream of global inclusion for women at all levels, such as the right to self-determination and equal access to rights and resources.

“In the midst of hardship, violence and injustice, it is more than ever our responsibility to fight for freedom as a universal right,” says Oliver Kray, founder and CEO of MyPostcard. “Advocating for equal rights and independence for women worldwide is close to our hearts as a team and company. We want to use our postcard medium to show up for, inspire and mobilize people to support this cause.”

“As long as girls are being poisoned in Iran, as long as women are being raped and killed because they want to live freely, we have to publicise and confront it! This is also true for the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am grateful that MyPostcard with its campaign is a further, visible “amplifier” of the protests in Iran, and of human and women’s rights worldwide!”, explains Düzen Tekkal, founder and chairwoman of HÁWAR.help.

About HAWAR.help

HÁWAR.help e.V. is a human rights organization founded in 2015 on the ashes of the Yazidis genocide and today it implements development, education, and awareness programs in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Germany. In addition, we advocate both on the ground and digitally – including on the revolution in Iran – such as by our HÁWAR.help sponsorship program: our program arranges political sponsorships for imprisoned Iranians, Azeris, Bahai, Beltus, Kurds, Lur and other members of minorities in Iran to German and European politicians, decision-makers and supporters with a wide reach. The oppression of ethno-religious minorities in Iran by the regime also has a long sad history – and is brutally continued in the course of the suppression of the protest wave. Sponsorships are available to members of parliament at the federal or state level in Germany. So far, more than 400 sponsorships have been arranged for political office holders.

HÁWAR.help stands for the endeavor to create a world in which every human being, regardless of gender, origin or creed, can develop in a self-determined and safe way. A world in which human rights are respected as the highest good and women and children need not be afraid to seize opportunities and think big. A world in which educational initiatives and open societies support, in particular, those who are scarred by life but still have the courage to carry on.
