MyPostcard - Muhammad Yunu
The Nobel Prize–winning economist, hailed as the “banker to the poor,” is a man on a mission. The father of microcredit has set out with his latest book, A World of Three Zeros, to demonstrate that the capitalist engine is broken—and that what’s needed to replace it is an economic system in which altruism can thrive as powerfully as self-interest. While some may dismiss the idea as fantasy, Muhammad
Yunus demonstrates that it is an achievable, pragmatic reality—one which innovative social entrepreneurs around the globe are already unleashing.

Who is Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus?

Exploring Social Business Opportunities
Yunus is a Bangladeshi banker and economist who was born on 28 June 1940. He was a professor of economics and is famous for his work in microcredit. Microcredit is a name for giving small loans. These loans are given to people with very little money. Most banks do not give microcredit. Yunus started the Grameen Bank.

In 2006, Yunus and the bank together, were awarded the Nobel Peace Prizefor their efforts to create economic and social development from below. Yunus himself has received several other national and international awards. He published a book called Banker to the Poor and helped start the Grameen Foundation.

MyPostcard’s Mission is to embrace Yunus’s Vision of a new form of capitalism, launching innovative social businesses designed to serve human needs rather than to accumulate wealth..

We see altruism as a creative force just as powerful as self-interest and we invite everyone to join the movement and help create the better world we all dream of.
