Berlin, October 29th, 2020 — Since 2014, the Berlin-based company MyPostcard has been offering its users personalized, real printed postcards via their app. However, these have long been more than just vacation greetings – postcards can be a medium to make voices heard. In cooperation with MyPostcard, the European Parliament is therefore now providing 5,000 free postcards to raise awareness of a stronger Europe.
together.eu – Campaign for Europe-enthusiasts
The 2019 European elections marked a turnaround: For the first time since the first direct elections in 1979, voter turnout increased. This is evidence of a renewed growing interest in Europe. With together.eu, the European Parliament, as the democratic voice of the citizens, has created a platform that brings together pro-Europeans and provides a stage for increased civic engagement. This postcard campaign is designed to promote this community, address an even wider audience and further increase awareness of the European Union.
5,000 free postcards
In cooperation with MyPostcard, the European Parliament provides 5,000 free postcards. Seven attractive motifs are available for selection in the design profile. MyPostcard users will be able to order the cards free of charge – with the discount automatically coming into place during checkout.
Representatives of the European Parliament are promoting the campaign
With members of the European parliament like Daniel Caspary (CDU), Ulrike Mueller (FW) and Maria Noichl (SPD), the campaign found prominent supporters across party lines. The three of them address their very personal messages on the postcards to the generation before us, the nursing staff during the pandemic and to all people who need “a positive moment” more than ever during the pandemic. Photos with the messages can be found in the attachment. With the photo credit: “European Parliament” these may be used freely.
About together.eu
Through the online community together.eu, the European Parliament brings together pro-Europeans from all member states to bring the European idea to life. The platform, which is to be expanded by a number of functions in the coming months, will offer the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, promote events and access EU information easily and in a modern, mobile fashion. Over 30,000 participants have already registered. The aim is to build on the successful campaign diesmalwaehleich.eu, which brought together over 300,000 Europeans in the run-up to the European elections in 2019.
