Berlin, March 8, 2025 – In a world where women juggle careers, family, social obligations, and personal expectations on a daily basis, one thing often falls by the wayside: mental health. For International Women’s Day 2025, MyPostcard is launching the #DearMeChallenge – an initiative that encourages women to actively engage with their mental health and place the value of self-care at the center of their lives. The campaign aims to empower women to prioritize their psychological well-being and to claim the time they need for themselves.
The Mental Health of Women in Germany
Women are disproportionately affected by mental health issues. 8.8% of women report experiencing depressive symptoms in the past two weeks, with particularly high numbers among young women aged 18 to 29 (11.6%) and women aged 45 to 64 (10.2%). Overall, 15.4% of women have been diagnosed with depression at some point in their lives—almost twice as often as men (7.8%).
A 2021 survey of over 10,000 respondents in Germany revealed that only 47% of women are familiar with the concept of self-care and actively try to prioritize their well-being. However, the consequences of neglecting self-care should not be underestimated: burnout, inner restlessness, stress, and emotional exhaustion are common results. This is where the #DearMeChallenge comes in—raising awareness of how essential self-care is for mental and emotional well-being. Breaks, mindfulness, and intentional “me-time” are not luxuries—they are necessities for long-term health and balance.
Together for Better Mental Health
As part of this year’s #DearMeChallenge campaign, MyPostcard will once again launch an exclusive postcard collection in the campaign’s signature design. With specially designed quote cards, women can send encouraging messages to others or write a letter to their future selves as part of the #DearMeChallenge. This personal gesture is intended to inspire women to treat themselves with greater appreciation and mindfulness.
A special feature: the written cards can be scheduled in advance and sent on a chosen date—a meaningful way to remind oneself of personal growth and self-care goals.
Complementing this, extensive Instagram content will provide valuable insights on mindfulness, stress management, and self-care. Leading psychologist Lea Vogel will contribute expert advice in short, practical video formats, offering helpful strategies to foster greater awareness of mental health.
“With the #DearMeChallenge, we want to encourage women to give themselves the same care and kindness they so often extend to others—without guilt. Self-care is not selfish, but an essential step toward greater inner strength and balance,” says Marisa David, PR Manager at MyPostcard.
